TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT HAS BEEN STEPPED UP ALONG I-70 COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- At 12:01 this morning, the
Ohio State Highway Patrol, together with nine other state police and highway patrol agencies and federal and local law enforcement agencies, began Operation SPAN-70. This program is a major traffic enforcement saturation effort along the entire span of Interstate 70, which traverses the country from Maryland to Utah. The primary goal of this operation is to improve highway safety along this corridor through the vigorous enforcement of all applicable traffic laws. Secondarily, law enforcement officers involved in this operaton will interdict any and all forms of criminal activity.
The International Association of Chiefs of Police, which is coordinating the effort, will prepare a national press release and provide summary statistics from all contributing agencies by early afternoon Nov. 21. -0- 11/20/91 /CONTACT: Sgt.
