MORPETH Harriers' 10k Road Race is scheduled for Tuesday, August 7 with a 7.30pm start.

Postal entries have closed, but late entries will be accepted on the night.

THE final Start Fitness North East Athletics League fixture of the season takes place at Gateshead International Stadium on Wednesday, August 8 with a 7pm start.

Track events are hurdles, 200m, 3,000m, 400m and 800m, while field eventers are well catered for in the high jump, pole vault, javelin, discus, hammer, shot and long jump. The organisers ask all available officials to attend.

NEWCASTLE City Council's Exhibition Park 5k race for the Elswick Cup takes place on Wednesday, August 15 with a 7.15pm start. There is a safety limit of 350, with all finishers receiving a goody bag.

Postal entries close on August 10 and should be sent to: Newcastle City Council, Parks and Countryside Service, Room 233, Civic Centre, Barras Bridge, Newcastle NE1 8PN.

THE Sherwoods Chevrolet-supported Darlington 10km road race is scheduled for Sunday, August 12 with a 10.30am start.

As well as the pounds 100 first prize for both men and women, the organisers have put up an additional pounds 150 to the winner who breaks the course records which currently stand at 30min 21 sec (Martin Scaife, 2002) and 35:49 (Susie Rutherford, 2002).
