TOYOTA UNVEILS PLAN FOR ALL-NEW, U.S.-BUILT LARGE SEDAN

 GEORGETOWN, Ky., Oct. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS) U.S.A. Inc. today announced it will introduce an all-new U.S.-built large sedan named "Avalon," in the 1995 model year.
 "The Toyota Avalon will be built exclusively here at Toyota Motor Manufacturing (TMM), in the new $800 million expansion plant," said J. Davis Illingworth, group vice president, Toyota Division. "We will publicly introduce the Avalon at the Chicago Auto Show in February, and in October next year, it will assume the flagship position in the Toyota line formerly occupied by the Cressida. We expect it to achieve modest sales volume."
 The announcement was made during the roll-off ceremony of the one- millionth Camry built at Toyota's award-winning manufacturing facility in Georgetown.
 "In four years, you have twice earned the J.D. Power Gold Plant Quality Award," said Alex Warren, TMM senior vice president, in his address to the facility's team members. "It is due to your commitment ti?ty that this plant has been chosen as the sole manufacturer of Toyota's newest product -- the Avalon."
