TOYOTA SALES RISE IN 1ST FEBRUARY 10 DAYS

 TORRANCE, Calif., Feb. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS) U.S.A., Inc., today reported that sales of North American-built Toyotas rose 30.3 percent to 8,403 for the 10-day period, and increased 25.3 percent to 34,200 calendar year-to-date (CYTD).
 Toyota's North American-built vehicle sales accounted for 41.9 percent of sales during the 10-day period, up from 35.4 percent in the same period last year, and 39.7 percent CYTD, up from 31.1 percent last year.
 Toyota's total vehicle sales for the 10-day period were 20,050, up 10.1 percent from the same period in 1992. CYTD sales are at 86,172, down 1.8 percent from last year.
 Toyota's strongest sellers include North American-built models. Total sales of the Camry mid-size sedan rose 2.6 percent to 5,748 for the 10-day period, including 3,786 U.S.-built models, which decreased 12.0 percent. CYTD Camry sales rose 6.1 percent to 23,932, including 15,203 U.S.-built models, which dropped 4.2 percent.
 Total sales of the Corolla compact sedan and wagon rose 3.2 percent to 4,118 for the 10-day period, including 3,019 North American-built Corolla sedans, a 60.7-percent increase. While total CYTD Corolla sales dipped 4.9 percent to 17,430, North American-built Corollas increased 5.3 percent to 10,781.
 Total Toyota pickup sales, including 1,877 new T100 intermediate- size pickups, rose 99.2 percent to 4,571, with 1,598 U.S.-built compact models. CYTD pickup sales rose 28.5 percent to 17,351, including 8,216 U.S.-built compact models.
 Lexus reported sales of 1,286 cars for the 10-day period, down 11.8 percent, with a 30.7-percent increase in ES300 sales to 628. Lexus sold 7,550 vehicles CYTD, down 9.5 percent over the same period last year, with a 23.2-percent rise in ES300 sales to 3,529.
