TOYOTA REPORTS FIRST 10-DAY SALES FOR MARCH
TORRANCE, Calif., March 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Toyota Motor Sales (TMS)

U.S.A. Inc. today reported that total vehicle sales were up 36.7 percent over the same 10-day period last year, with year-to-date sales up more than 16 percent.
Toyota's healthy sales increases for January and February are consistent with reports from the Commerce Department that for the first time since 1985, total retail sales have increased by at least 1 percent, two months in a row.
"Retail sales up two months in a row is an encouraging signal," said Bob McCurry, TMS executive vice president, "but I'll need to see a couple more months of steady improvement before I'm convinced we're breaking out of the recession."
Toyota's domestically built cars have contributed significantly to its strong 1992 year-to-date sales. Mid-size Camry sales are running 29.3 percent ahead of last year, with Corolla sales up 27.1 percent. So far this year, one-third of all Toyotas sold in the United States have been domestically built.
Toyota's Lexus Division continues to enjoy strong year-to-date sales. Currently the division is running 109.9 percent ahead of last year.
Attached is a complete breakdown of 10-day and year-to-date sales.
