 TOYOTA REPORTS BEST FEBRUARY EVER
TORRANCE, Calif., March 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Toyota Motor Sales

(TMS), U.S.A. Inc., today reported its best February in history.
"Falling interest and mortgage rates have helped many consumers free up cash to pay-off debts and make necessary purchases," said Bob McCurry, TMS executive vice president. "While this is starting to help car sales, it will become more noticeable in the second half of the year."
Toyota's U.S. vehicle sales for February 1992 totaled 82,428, up 14.9 percent from February of 1991.
Total Toyota car sales for the month were 63,676, up 21.8 percent over February of 1991.
Sales of Toyota Division's domestically built cars were up 31.7 percent over February of last year, with the Camry midsize sedan up 37.9 percent and the Corolla subcompact sedan up 21.2 percent.
Toyota pickup truck sales were up 2.6 percent over February of last year.
Lexus Division reported its best-ever February, with sales of 8,478, up 89.3 percent over February of last year, with an 81.7 percent increase for the Lexus ES 250/300.
For February 1992 calendar year-to-date (CYTD), Toyota's total vehicle sales are 154,036, 14 percent ahead of the same period last year. Toyota Division's North American-built cars are 27.3 percent ahead of the same period last year, led by the Kentucky-built Camry sedan, which is 28 percent ahead of February 1991 CYTD. Toyota pickup trucks are up 3.8 percent for the period.
Lexus CYTD sales are 104.9 percent ahead of last year.
