Ireland v Bulgaria Tuesday, 7.45pm BY PAUL O'HEHIR TROY PARROTT will play no part in Ireland's senior friendly against Bulgaria on Tuesday night.

Tottenham's teenage sensation (left) was on standby for a first cap having been included in Mick McCarthy's initial 40-man provisional squad before dropping into the Under-21s.

But while there was uncertainty as to whether he would be drafted in, Parrott last night arrived in Sweden with Stephen Kenny's young guns.

Just hours after scoring the winner against Armenia on Friday, the 17-year-old flew to Amsterdam and then onto Stockholm.

Ireland's Under-21s face the Swedes in a crunch Euro qualifier on the same night as the Bulgaria test and McCarthy said: "Troy has TURN TO PAGE 65

FROM BACK PAGE no troy of the roverS..yet passing. But he does come deep, lays it off, gets into instinctive, good positions and reads where crosses go.

"He's got composure and he strikes the ball really well. He scored a goal, made the keeper save another one and hit the post, and he didn't even play up front!"

Molumby took the plaudits but

Parrott - playing as a No 10 rather than No 9 - was still instrumental in the qualifying win. "Troy has not played No 10 very much for Spurs but I knew he would get into the box," said Kenny.

"It's not natural for him to link the play up with quick but is not fazed by the challenge. "If I got called up to any level I'd be ready to play,"

insisted Spurs' rising star.

Meanwhile, Kenny raved about Parrott's match-winning performance against Armenia on his first appearance at that age level.

Aaron Connolly and Jayson got a competitive game."

McCarthy was in Tallaght to see Parrott make his Under-21 debut but added: "What more is he going to tell me in a game against Bulgaria, a friendly."

Parrott knows he has to bide his time for club and country before making it at senior level
