TOSHIBA BECOMES A SPONSOR AT SIX FLAGS THEME PARKS

NEW YORK, March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Toshiba America, Inc. announced today that Toshiba would become a corporate sponsor at Six Flags Theme Parks, a Time Warner (NYSE: TWX) affiliated company.
Through this agreement, Toshiba will benefit from marketing opportunities offered by Six Flags, including a mention in the parks' guidebooks, sponsoring major rides at each park with name recognition in coordinating signs, running Toshiba spots on Six Flags closed-circuit television, and displaying the corporate logo at the parks' Information Centers. Also, Toshiba will be the sponsor of the "Dennis the Menace" Screen Test tour, which will travel to each park, ending in California in December 1993. In addition to these marketing activities, Toshiba will provide some of its products to Six Flags, including large projection screens and personal computers.
Since Toshiba invested $500 million in Time Warner Entertainment in June 1992, Toshiba and Time Warner have been working together to find possible opportunities to enhance their mutual business development. Sponsorship of Time Warner's Six Flags Theme Parks is one example of this cooperation. In the future, Toshiba plans to expand this cooperation by assisting Six Flags in development of high-tech amusement by providing its cutting-edge technologies such as HDTV systems and Virtual Reality.
Robert Pittman, president and CEO of Time Warner Enterprises and chairman and CEO of Six Flags Entertainment, stated, "With a Six Flags Sponsorship, Toshiba can capitalize on the demographic shifts and consumer trends that have made the 90's the `Decade of the Family.'" We appreciate Toshiba's support and sponsorship of Six Flags and consider this an excellent opportunity for both companies. We also expect that Toshiba will provide great assistance to the parks' high-tech innovations in the future and keep us on the edge of high-tech entertainment."
Taizo Nishimuro, vice chairman of Toshiba America, Inc., commented, "We are very happy to sponsor and support this 'Six Flags' project, which we consider an excellent and cost-efficient marketing opportunity. By participating in projects like this with our partner, Time Warner, we can become a vital player in the software and entertainment business."
Six Flags Theme Parks, Inc. is the country's largest regional theme park company. An estimated 85 percent of all Americans live within driving distance of one of the parks, which are: Six Flags Over Texas (Dallas/Ft. Worth); Six Flags Over Georgia (Atlanta); Six Flags Over Mid-America (St. Louis); AstroWorld (Houston); Six Flags Great Adventure (New York/Philadelphia); Six Flags Magic Mountain (Los Angeles); Six Flags Great America (Chicago/Milwaukee).
