TOPOX: AGREEMENT SIGNED TO MANUFACTURE INNOVATIVE MEDICAL DEVICES
CHADDS FORD, Pa., Oct. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Topox, Inc. (AMEX: TPO.EC) announced today an agreement with Avitar, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVITC) for the manufacture of an advanced, compact and disposable oxygen healing chamber, the Oxyhealer(TM), for the treatment of "bed sores" and other skin disorders.
The device features an absorbent pad of Hydrasorb(TM), Avitar's proprietary, medical grade, polyurethane wound dressing material.
Evelyna Dyson-Cantwell, president of Topox, said, "Our Oxyhealer(TM) chamber has been designed to maintain a soft, moist semi-occlusive surface in combination with an oxygen-enriched gas layer over the wound. The goal is to speed healing, reduce secondary infection, and increase patient comfort while reducing the real cost of treatment."
Topox and Avitar also announced Avitar will be manufacturing Topox's Supra Scanner(R), an advanced ultrasound imaging device that revolutionizes the diagnosis of skin lesions, severe burns, and deep ulcers and non-invasively monitors the progress of wound healing.
The company also announced today that the Supra Scanner(R), originally sold to Dr. Niels Lauersen, was reacquired in September by the company and subsequently re-deployed for a confidential research project in the United Kingdom which could lead to new applications for the Scanner. The $135,000 sale, recorded in June 1992, will be reversed in the financial statements for the quarter ended Sept. 30, 1992. The unaudited gross revenues for the quarter were $360,139.
Topox, Inc. develops and markets proprietary medical products which are used in the diagnosis, monitoring and ongoing treatment of skin disorders such as wounds, ulcerations, burns and other skin disorders including skin cancers and melanomas.
