TOPCO, INC. TO RECALL ALL FOOD CLUB CANNED SPINACH

TOPCO, INC. TO RECALL ALL FOOD CLUB CANNED SPINACH
Topco, Inc. has announced a voluntary recall of all 15-ounce cans of

Food Club canned spinach. The recall is in response to a single consumer complaint concerning parts of a mouse found in a 15-ounce can of Food Club canned spinach, purchased in Fairmont, W.Va. This particular can of Food Club canned spinach was produced for Topco by Allen Packing Company of Arkansas.
Giant Eagle, which sells Food Club canned spinach in the tri-state region, announced that it is cooperating fully and immediately in the recall. Although the can in question was a 15-ounce size, Giant Eagle is recalling all sizes of Food Club canned spinach.
Giant Eagle's primary concern is the safety and welfare of its customers. The company is cooperating in this recall in order to ensure the quality and purity that its customers have come to expect from all products sold in Giant Eagle stores.
Giant Eagle will no longer buy any products from Allen Packing Company. No other Food Club brand products are involved.
Any consumer who has purchased Food Club canned spinach at a Giant Eagle store is asked to return that can to the store. The company will issue a refund. Giant Eagle customers who have questions concerning this recall should contact Giant Eagle at 800-553-2324 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
