TOP COP'S CAR NICKED.
Thieves pounced on the overflow car park behind the station in Motherwell town centre.
And it left Inspector John Fenemore fuming as he made his way back at the end of his shift to report the theft of his Vauxhall Astra to his colleagues.
Yesterday, one officer said: "To say the inspector was a bit upset would be an understatement. It was the only car taken among many dozens parked."
This was the first time a car has been stolen from the car park. Now new security measures have been brought in. It was revealed yesterday that the Astra, stolen on Thursday afternoon, was found abandoned but intact a few miles away in Larkhall.
Police chiefs are now wondering what could hit them next.
Just two weeks ago, a gang of mini-marauders mugged PC Pete the Penquin at an open day at Wishaw police headquarters a few miles down the road from Motherwell .
Then, as he struggled inside the costume to regain his feet, they nicked some counterfeit money. Red- faced cops are still hunting the the tiny terrors, all under10.
The police officer added:" We are not making any link in the two incidents, as yet."
