TOP CANDIDATES GET HELP IN RAISING THEIR LEVEL OF 'DISS'-COURSE
NEW YORK, Oct. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- With only six days left till Election Day, the candidates' campaigning has become almost manic. The competition is fierce - but, help is on the way.
Accusing the candidates of lacking originality and imagination in their mudslinging endeavors, the authors of a new treasure trove of insults, slurs, and putdowns, "Your Mother Wears Army Boots" (Avon Books; August, 1992; $9.00 U.S./$11.00 Canada), have sent the three top candidates copies of their new book, to expand their repertoire of rampallion. Noting that the nation's political campaigns have historically been rich in imaginative and truly rabble-rousing invective, the authors decried the limited range of today's campaign calumnies. Although the media have played up the current sleaze as unusual, the authors assert that "there's no tapinosis at work here."
The book contains scores of historic political putdowns and hundreds of universal insults applicable to political billingsgate, along with thousands of pet pejaritives and pans of every possible group, in the best American tradition. Here are but a few of the (un)suitable terms for all the candidates who think they are reinventing the language of political defamation:
bomfogger, cacademic, kakistokrat, kleptokrat, bafflegabber, cardophagus, twaddle, bilge, cockamamie, dicty, hocus-pocus, nabob, pointyhead, film-flam artists, gibber-gabber, gobbledygook, tinhorn, pornocrat, poltroon, flam-doodle, rapscallion, snollygoster, radic-lib, throttlebottom, Bourbon, birdbrain (the book contains one hundred synonyms for blockhead, plus scores of other expressions for "stupid"), blackplaguer, barfy, ayatollah.
These insults, along with thousands of others, in the most complete collection of calumny every published, are now available in bookstores.
