TOMMY SHERIDAN COLUMN: Fire cash wasted on the strike.
Byline: TOMMY SHERIDANNO wonder our firefighters are blazing with anger.
It would have cost pounds 4.5million to give every Scottish firefighter a 16 per cent rise.
And to pay the original 30 per cent pay claim would have cost pounds 9million. Now it emerges that the strikes have cost the Scottish taxpayer nearly pounds 20million.
That's more than double what was needed to pay the firefighters claim in full.
If they had any shame, the faces of Government ministers should now be as red as fire engines.
They told us they didn't have the money to pay firefighters a decent wage.
And all along, they were stumping up a fortune to DENY firefighters a decent wage.
