TOMMY SHERIDAN COLUMN: DAYCARE DONATION.

Byline: TOMMY SHERIDAN

I HATE letting down my grannies. I don't see them anything like as much as I should. So my visit to the Govan Daycare Centre was unmissable.

My granny Rose attends this centre which is based in a wing of the old St Gerard's School. Loads of clubs and activities are based there. It shows how schools can be a great community asset if used properly.

The club caters for 25 senior citizens within the Govan area. They're picked up from their homes in specially-adapted minibuses. They can then participate in games, arts and crafts, storytelling and other activities before lunch.

Sometimes they're taken on trips to the coast. Sarah Duffy and her talented staff do a great job.

My granny Rose looks forward to her club. There should be clubs like this in every community in Scotland. The good cause pounds 200 donation this week goes therefore to the Govan Daycare centre.
