TOMMY SHERIDAN: FEB14? IT WAS MORE APRIL 1.
WELL, didn't I think I was the popular one. This year, for the first time, I got one more Valentine card than Gail did.
It was a lovely thing from women of the Bide a Wee home in Prestonpans, over in Edinburgh.
They had all written me a kind message, telling me how handsome, charming and clever I am.
They all said how much they respected me and how proud they were I was making a stand against injustices in the world.
I was feeling on top of the world and decided to include a wee thank you to Effie, Nan, Isa, Jessie and Fanny in the column.
But I should have known, really.
Just after I handed my column to my office manager to type up, I got a phone call.
In the background there was laughter and yes, you guessed it, I had fallen for a wind-up. The parliamentary staff and researchers got me a good one.
Worst of all, Gail's still ahead in the Valentine stakes.
WINNER: Wife Gail
