TOM THON NAMED PRESIDENT OF WLVQ-FM

 CINCINNATI, Dec. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- David H. Crowl, president of the radio group of Great American Broadcasting Company, announced the promotion of Tom Thon to president and general manager of WLVQ-FM, Columbus, Ohio.
 "WLVQ is one of the best long-term success stories in rock 'n' roll. Tom Thon has played a major role in every step towards obtaining that success," said Crowl.
 Thon, 36, has served as vice president and general manager of WLVQ-FM, a position he has held since March 1984. Thon joined Great American in September 1978 as an account executive with WLVQ-FM, then owned by Taft Broadcasting. He was with WLVQ's sister station, WTVN-AM, as an account executive from July 1980 to July 1982, then was promoted to local sales manager of WLVQ in July 1982. Prior to joining Great American, Thon was Toledo account executive with WOHO/WXEZ, Toledo, from June to September 1978. Thon holds a bachelor of science degree in communications from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio. He and his wife, Kathleen, have three children.
 Great American Broadcasting operates 11 FM radio stations including WLVQ and six AM radio stations, along with six VHF television stations affiliated with the major networks. Great American Broadcasting is a wholly owned subsidiary of Great American Communications Company whose stock is traded over-the-counter under the symbol GACC.
