TOM LOM REJOINS SAATCHI & SAATCHI ADVERTISING AS CO-MANAGING DIRECTOR FOR THE AGENCY'S NEW CONSUMER HEALTHCARE DIVISION

NEW YORK, Feb. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Thomas P. Lom, a native of Darien, Conn., has rejoined the New York ad agency Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising as Executive Vice President and Co-Managing Director for its new consumer healthcare division -- "The Healthcare Connection." Mr. Lom rejoins the agency following five years as President of William Douglas McAdams, a leading medical agency known for such clients as Pfizer, Glaxo, Schering and Hoescht.

"The healthcare category is a discreet business segment which demands its own set of insights and disciplines," said Michael Jeary, Vice Chairman and Worldwide Director of Marketing for Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising and the man responsible for rehiring Mr. Lom. "That is why we asked Tom to head this important, new division. He has a keen understanding of the healthcare field, cultivated by his recent years as president of William Douglas McAdams. It will be Tom's job to apply Saatchi's outstanding talent and track record in the growing consumer healthcare area to attract nutritional clients, direct-to-consumer advertising for prescription drugs and advertising for managed care companies and other healthcare providers."

Indeed, Mr. Lom has spent over twenty years in advertising, heavily involved with both prescription and over-the-counter products and companies. For example, during his tenure as president of William Douglas McAdams, Tom Lom helped expand the agency's capabilities to include consumer, public relations, direct marketing and managed care. He also served as an industry spokesperson, testifying before the FDA on behalf of the Coalition for Healthcare Communications.

Prior to that, Mr. Lom spent 15 years at Saatchi & Saatchi Advertising where he managed the Tylenol franchise. In addition, he helped manage the restage of Mylanta antacid, which went from fourth to first in its category under his leadership.

As co-managing director of Saatchi & Saatchi's new "Healthcare Connection," Mr. Lom will assume responsibilities for managing a $200+ million division, which includes such proven successful brands as the full line of Tylenol products, the Mylanta franchise and Johnson & Johnson's new Pepcid AC antacid relief.

Mr. Lom is married and lives in Darien, Conn., with his wife and three children. He is a graduate of Trinity College and holds an M.B.A. from Columbia University. He is currently on the Board of Directors of the Nonprescription Drug Manufacturers of America (NDMA).
