TOM CRUISE TAKES HIS PLACE AMONG HOLLYWOOD ROYALTY AT THE MANN CHINESE THEATRE

 HOLLYWOOD, June 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Tom Cruise will leave his signature, footprints and handprints in the forecourt of the world- renown Mann Chinese Theatre during a special ceremony on Monday, June 28, at noon. Cruise is the star of "The Firm," which opens nationwide on Wednesday, June 30.
 "The Firm" is a drama based on the John Grisham bestseller which also stars Gene Hackman, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Ed Harris, Holly Hunter, Hal Holbrook and David Strathairn. The film was directed by Sydney Pollack from a screenplay by David Rabe and Robert Towne & David Rayfiel. Scott Rudin, John Davis and Pollack are the producers, and Michael Hausman and Lindsay Doran are the executive producers of the presentation of the Motion Picture Group of Paramount Pictures, part of the entertainment operations of Paramount Communications Inc. The cast includes Wilford Brimley and Gary Busey.
 Cruise stars as Mitch McDeere, an honors graduate of an Ivy League school who forgoes offers at top big city law firms and accepts a position with a small yet wealthy partnership in Memphis, Tenn. The firm leases him a Mercedes, pays off his student loans and arranges a mortgage for his first home. It doesn't take long for Mitch to discover that the firm is not what it appears to be. What seemed like a golden opportunity could cost him his life.
 Since its publication in 1990, "The Firm" has sold more than 7 million copies and became the No. 1 bestselling novel of 1991. The hardcover edition remained on The New York Times bestseller list for 47 weeks.
 MPAA-rated R, "The Firm" will be presented in Dolby Stereo in select theaters.
