TOLKIEN A LOAD OF TOSH.

A RABBLE from Ribble Valley has had the effrontery to muscle in on OUR Hobbits.

Everyone knows that Sarehole Mill and Moseley Bog were the inspiration for Middle Earth and The Shire.

JRR Tolkien himself said so.

But the Lancashire lot have sniffed a fast buck and are laying claim to being the authentic Tolkien Country.

This is as preposterous as our claiming that we invented the Lancashire hot-pot or pretending that clog-dancing is our favourite hobby.

On the other hand, judging by the insulting indifference to Birmingham shown by New Line Cinema and Entertainment, neither the makers nor the distributors of The Lord of the Rings have a clue either.
