 ANNE L. BRYANT NAMED TO HCA BOARD OF DIRECTORS
 NASHVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- HCA -- Hospital


Corporation of America (NYSE: HCA) today announced the election of Anne L. Bryant, Ed.D. to its board of directors.
 Bryant was also named a director of Hospital Corporation of America, the operating subsidiary.
 The announcement was made by Thomas F. Frist Jr., M.D., HCA chairman and chief executive officer, following the regular meeting of the board of directors on Aug. 16.
 "We are very pleased to welcome someone of Dr. Bryant's credentials as a member of our board of directors," Frist said. "We believe her perspective will be valuable and pertinent to the company."
 Bryant currently serves as the executive director of the American Association of University Women. She was formerly vice president of professional education for P.M. Haeger and Associates, Inc. and director of the National Associaiton of Bank Women Educational Foundation.
 She received her doctorate in education from the University of Massachusetts and her bachelor's degree from Simmons College.
 Dr. Bryant serves on the national boards of Simmons College and Independent Sector and is an advisory commissioner to the Education Commission of the States. She is a member of the board of directors and board of governors of the United Nation's Association of the USA.
 HCA and its affiliates own and operate more than 90 hospitals with more than 20,000 beds in the United States.
