TN electioons 2011:Jayalalithaa allots three seats to muslim outfits.

Chennai, Feb. 22 -- The AIADMK on Sunday entered into an electoral understanding with the Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MNMK) by allotting three seats to the party.

M.H. Jawahirullah, convenor of the MMK, the political wing of the Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK), met AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa at her Poes Garden residence and signed the agreement for seat-sharing.

"We have decided to contest on our own symbol and we will soon approach the Election Commission in this regard," Mr. Jawahirullah told The Hindu.

He said MMK would also contest one seat in Puducherry as part of the AIADMK alliance and the agreement for the same would be signed later.

Asked whether he was happy with the allocation of three seats, Mr. Jawahirullah said he had no complaints because Ms. Jayalalithaa was keen on cobbling together a mega alliance.

"Our objective is to defeat the corrupt DMK government driven only by nepotism," he said.

Mr. Jawahirullah was accompanied by TMMK president S. Hyder Ali, MMK general secretary P. Abdul Samad, Treasurer S.S. Haroon Rashid and others.

Earlier in the day, CPI leaders led by its State secretary D. Pandian held talks with the AIADMK's three- member committee on seat-sharing.

"The talks went on smoothly and it is for the AIADMK leadership to finalize the agreement," Mr. Pandian said.
