MARDAN -- Employees of Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Mardan on Monday held a protest against non-payment of their salaries and pension for the last two months and announced to observe strike followed by locking the tub-wells, which supply drinking-water across the district, on July 11.
Led by TMA Union President Farhad Mohammad Kheil, General Secretary Malik Aman Behram Kheil and other office bearers, the protesting employees staged protest demonstrations in front of the TMA building in favour of the demands. The union officer bearers said that all the TMA employees belonged to poor and middle class families and salaries or pension amount were the only source of their income. They said that in the present sky-rocking price high-hike, it was very difficult for them to afford any delay in provision of their salaries. They alleged that the Tehsil Municipal Administration Mardan had been facing financial problems for the last few years owing to mismanagement of the authorities concerned.
They said that if payment of their salaries were not made sure within three days then they would lock all tube-well of TMA from July 11 as a protest.
They, however, demanded of the provincial government to provide special grant to the Tehsil Municipal Administration Mardan so that they could be paid their salaries.
