TLC to offer refrigerated and deep-frozen transport services to Mexico.

On February 1,1993, the emerging Mexico market became much more accessible to U.S. food processors, manufacturers and retailers as TLC officially began inbound and out-bound transportation services to the Mexico Federation.

The TLC Group has formed a strategic partnership with Transportes Especializados, one of Mexico's leading transportation companies, that will allow through-trailer service of dry, refrigerated and deep-frozen products between all points in the United States and the greater Mexico City area.

The de la Torres family is a leader in Mexico transportation services, with nearly 50 years of experience in truckload, bulk and specialized services throughout Mexico.

A key quality of the new service is the "through-trailer" aspect, which means that product remains in a TLC trailer until reaching the final destination, eliminating transfer from a U.S.-owned trailer to a Mexico-owned trailer at the border. This is a particular concern when handling refrigerated and frozen products, which may otherwise deteriorate if exposed to ambient temperature during border transfer.

To assure stringent quality throughout the program, TLC has provided additional training for de la Torres drivers, maintenance, dispatch and customer service personnel, many of which received their training at TLC's U.S. facilities.

The transportation service is actually the initial phase of a long-term commitment to providing a high-quality pipeline for U.S. and Mexico based companies. The second phase is the construction of a temperature-controlled distribution facility in the Mexico City area. TLC officials are presently negotiating with several Mexico development firms, and are expected to begin construction in the second half of 1993.
