 TJ INTERNATIONAL NAMES NEW DIRECTOR
BOISE, Idaho, Dec. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert B. Findlay, president

and chief executive officer of MacMillan Bloedel Limited, was elected to the TJ International (NASDAQ: TJCO) Board of Directors at the board's regular meeting today, the company said.
Findlay, 58, was selected to head MacMillan Bloedel earlier this year. He served as senior vice president of the large Canadian forest products company's worldwide marketing group prior to being named its president and chief executive officer. Findlay is a graduate of McGill University with a degree in mechanical engineering and has also completed the Harvard Business School advanced management program.
"Bob Findlay is one of the most respected leaders in the North American forest products industry today. He adds a wealth of experience and brings valuable insight to our board, which will prove particularly valuable as we develop our Trus Joist MacMillan joint venture into the world's leading structural composite lumber company," said TJ International President and Chief Executive Officer Walt Minnick. Trus Joist MacMillan is a joint venture partnership formed by TJ International and MacMillan Bloedel in September of this year. TJ International owns 51 percent of the joint venture and serves as its managing partner. MacMillan Bloedel owns a 49 percent stake in the new firm.
The board of directors also announced that it approved the first phase of a multi-million dollar capital expenditure program to expand the Norco Windows manufacturing plant in Twin Falls, Idaho. This will complete the expenditure of funds raised by the November 1989 issuance of $8 million in industrial development revenue bonds.
The phase of the project approved today includes sitework, modifications to the existing building, and the addition of a 30,000- square-foot storage, staging and shipping building. It will cost approximately $1.9 million and is slated for completion in the spring of 1993. Subsequent phases of the expansion, expected to commence after Dec. 1, 1992, will further enlarge the plant's shipping, manufacturing and raw material receiving capacity. When all phases are completed, the facility's size will be approximately double its existing 117,000 square feet. It will produce more than $50 million per year of wood windows and patio doors for the western United States and Canadian markets.
"The volume of business at the Twin Falls plant has increased to the point where this expansion is necessary to satisfy our growing western customer base," commented Minnick. He said that this year's successful introduction of the Teton series of premium-quality wood windows has driven the recent surge in orders at the Idaho plant.
In other news, the board of directors declared that the company's regular quarterly dividend of 10-1/2 cents per share will be paid on Jan. 8, 1992, to stockholders of record on Dec. 27, 1991.
