TJ INTERNATIONAL FILES PUBLIC OFFERING OF 3,500,000 SHARES OF COMMON STOCK

 BOISE, Idaho, Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- TJ International (NASDAQ: TJCO) today filed with the Securities and Exchange Commisssion a registration related to a proposed public offering of 3,500,000 shares of common stock. The number of shares are after adjustment for a 2-for-1 stock split in the form of a 100-percent stock dividend which will be payable Oct. 1 to stockholders of record on Sept. 7. In addition, the company has granted to the underwriters an option for 30 days to purchase up to 525,000 shares for the purpose of covering over-allotments, if any. Of the net proceeds to the company, $51 million will be contributed to the company's Trus Joist MacMillan joint venture subsidiary to help finance its engineered lumber facilities expansion program. The remainder will be used to reduce short-term indebtedness and for general corporate purposes. This offering will be managed by a U.S. and an international group of underwriters led by Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Lehman Brothers.
 TJ International is a specialty building products company headquartered in Boise. Through its 51-percent ownership interest in Trus Joist MacMillan, a limited partnership, with MacMillan Bloedel of America, TJ International is the largest producer of engineered lumber products in the world. The company also manufactures and markets windows through its three wholly owned subsidiaries, Norco Windows in the United States, and Dashwood Industries and R. Laflamme & Frere in Canada.
