TITAN AWARDED TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY CONTRACT
TITAN AWARDED TENNESSEE VALLEY AUTHORITY CONTRACT SAN DIEGO, June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Titan Corp. (NYSE: TTN)
announced that it has won a contract from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) for work in municipal solid waste. The contract has a ceiling of $2 million, and is for project management, consulting and engineering support for the development and commercialization for biomass technologies and for other technical and marketing services.
The TVA concept uses an integrated approached to developing municipal solid waste as a resource. First, recyclable materials such as glass, aluminum and plastics are removed and sold. Paper and yard wastes are then extracted and processed to form commercially needed chemicals and fuel. The remaining solid material is then burned in a boiler to form steam, heat and electricity. The power generated can be used to run the waste processing center or can be sold. This method can reduce the amount of material sent to a landfill by 85 percent to 90 percent. The Titan Corp., headquartered in San Diego, is a leading supplier of customized high technology electronics products and integrated hardware/software systems to federal, state and local government agencies, as well as domestic and international clients. -0- 6/23/92 /CONTACT: Michelle Mueller of Titan, 619-552-9400/ (TTN) CO: Titan Corp.; Tennessee Valley Authority ST: California, Tennessee IN: CPR SU: CON AL-KJ -- SD002 -- 2989 06/23/92 16:32 EDT
