TITAN ANNOUNCES 1992 SECOND QUARTER RESULTS

TITAN ANNOUNCES 1992 SECOND QUARTER RESULTS
SAN DIEGO, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- The Titan Corp. (NYSE: TTN)

today reported revenues of $35,199,000 for the second quarter of 1992, up 3 percent from revenues of $34,181,000 in the second quarter of 1991. Net income for the second quarter of 1992 was $873,000, up 16 percent from net income of $752,000 in the comparable year-earlier period. Earnings per common share were $0.06 in the second quarter of both 1992 and 1991.
For the first six months of 1992 revenues were $69,148,000, a slight decrease from $69,945,000 in the comparable year-earlier period, with net income increasing 9 percent to $1,580,000 from $1,447,000. Earnings per common share were $.11 in both 1992 and 1991 for the six-month period.
"We are making good progress in our transition to a balance among commercial, international, government and defense customers," said Gene W. Ray, president and chief executive officer. "Major accomplishments include expanding our Advanced Business Systems Division, which has increased to almost 90 professionals providing commercial software and products nationwide, and we have established ourselves as a supplier of commercial satellite transceivers through out Titan Gamma SATCOM Division."
Ray continued, "This quarter we also established a joint venture with Houston Satellite Systems, North America's largest producer of integrated receiver/descramblers for the home satellite TV market, to compete in the video scrambling industry. The joint venture is headed up by Tom Ortolf, another partner in the venture, who is the former president of Echosphere Corp. We will be demonstrating our product at trade shows this month. Our medical sterilization operation, Titan Scan, has signed two major contracts and is actively negotiating additional contracts. In the defense portion of our business, we believe that we occupy key niche areas in secure communications and technical support services that should remain in the military budgets during these periods of adjustment. Meanwhile, our commercial business is growing to fill the downsizing in defense."
The Titan Corp., headquartered in San Diego, designs, manufactures and installs high technology information and electronics products and systems for government, commercial and international clients.
