SCHAUMBURG, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 23, 1996--Trade Insurance Services Inc. (TIS), a subsidiary of Intercargo Corp. (NASDAQ:ICAR), announced a new addition to the TIS management team.

Effective Monday, Sept. 23, 1996, Thomas Kretz has replaced Ms. Maggie Smith as the regional vice president of TIS-SF.

Kretz has a wealth of experience in the transportation and logistics fields which will greatly add to the company's depth and diversity. Although Kretz has been on the West Coast for the last six years, he is a native of Illinois with a B.A. from the University of Illinois. Kretz comes from Northern Telecom where he managed the inventory, transportation and logistics problems typical of those faced by importers and exporters. He is a five year veteran Transportation Captain of the U.S. Army where he circled the globe moving troops and cargo by every conceivable mode of transport.

Recently, as a member of the Military Traffic Management Command (MTMC), Tom led a group of foreign logistics specialists into Germany. His team played one of the most integral roles in the deployment of over 50,000 NATO troops and 6,000 pieces of heavy cargo through six foreign countries into Bosnia. The massive task of moving military units throughout the world has given him unparalleled exposure to the industry the company serves.

President of TIS, Gary C. Bhojwani, commented, "Tom's leadership and management skills have been put to the ultimate tests through his wide range of experience. We expect great things from Tom and look forward to this motivated leader's contributions and unique perspectives to our team."
