TING PERIPHERALS ACQUIRES NIMBLE COMPUTER CORP. AND GAINS ACCESS
TO FIRST IN A SERIES OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE PRODUCTS
LONG ISLAND CITY, N.Y., May 22 -- Ting Peripherals, Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: TING) announced today that it has reached an agreement to acquire Nimble Computer Corp. The Cypress, Calif.-based company will become a wholly owned West Coast subsidiary of Ting for an undisclosed amount of stock and cash.
Nimble has an exclusive license to manufacture and market a pen- based cursive handwriting recognition system that uses artificial intelligence techniques to allow instantaneous perception of connected characters, even on low-end computers. The Nimble recognition system currently runs under Microsoft Windows, and in the near future will include MS-DOS and OS/2 based versions. Nimble President John Cannizzo -- who was formerly the director of engineering for Citizen Systems, Inc. and also held important positions at other computer industry companies -- invented his company's recognition system.
"Since it's smaller, lighter and more powerful than competitive products, we expect Nimble's handwriting recognition system to appeal to the general computer marketplace whose only other option is to purchase less effective products that currently cost thousands of dollars more," said Ting Peripherals President David Ting. "The system is the first in a series of computer products and peripherals that we'll introduce with Nimble later this year using the latest technology in artificial intelligence."
Ting manufactures and supplies a complete line of computer systems and peripherals for businesses and individual customers. The company's products are sold through its other subsidiary PC Ware International, Inc.
