TIMETAL 15-3 INTRODUCED INTO SPORTING GOODS MARKET

DENVER, Feb. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Titanium Metals Corp. ("TIMET"), one of the world's leading producers of titanium, has announced an agreement with Easton, a manufacturer of high performance aluminum bats, arrows, hockey sticks and other related products, to develop, test and market titanium sporting goods.
Easton will debut its new "Tiphoon" softball bat at the Atlanta Super Show on Feb. 5, 1993. The Tiphoon is made from TIMETAL(R) 15-3, a titanium alloy produced by TIMET for use previously only in the aerospace industry. The higher strength provided by TIMETAL(R) 15-3 allows the use of thinner sections, removing excess weight and adding performance. Easton has been quietly field testing the bat since last summer with excellent results.
Jim Easton, president and chief executive officer of Easton, stated, "Our goal is to push the limits of what can be done in sporting goods, whether in aluminum, composites, titanium or other materials. Easton's unique design and manufacturing capabilities give us an edge when working with high performance materials."
Kirby Adams, president and chief executive officer of TIMET, noted, "We believe Easton's knowledge of top performance sporting goods, combined with TIMET's leadership in the titanium industry presents an excellent opportunity for both parties. We're excited about introducing our advanced alloys like TIMETAL(R) 15-3 into this new market."
TIMET, headquartered in Denver, is a world leader in the production and distribution of titanium sponge, ingot and a broad array of titanium mill products through its manufacturing facilities in Nevada, Ohio and Tennessee and Service Centers located throughout the United States and in England, Germany and France. TIMET supplies titanium worldwide to commercial and military airframe and engine manufacturers, power utilities and the chemical, petroleum, automotive, pulp/paper, medical, navy/marine and sports equipment markets.
