TIME REALLY IS MONEY! EXECUTIVE SURVEY SHOWS EMPLOYEES EAGER TO TRADE OTHER BENEFITS FOR MORE VACATION

MENLO PARK, Calif., July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Accountemps issued the following today:
With summer vacations in full swing, the perennial lament of "not enough time" can be heard in workplaces across the land. But that may soon change as an overwhelming number of executives (83 percent) in a new survey believe that employees are willing to trade other benefits -- including pay -- for more rest and relaxation time.
The study was developed by Accountemps, the world's largest temporary staffing service for accounting, bookkeeping and information systems professionals. It was conducted by an independent research firm which polled 150 executives from the nation's 1,000 largest companies.
They were asked, "Do you think employees would favor buying and selling vacation time for cash or benefits?" The responses:
 Yes 83 percent
 No 16 percent
 Don't Know 1 percent
 Total 100 percent
"Employees have come to realize that every benefit offered to them, even vacation time, has a dollar value associated with it," said Max Messmer, chairman of Accountemps. "They can also see the advantage of trading one benefit for another to fit their individual lifestyle and needs.
"By offering employees the opportunity to select their mix of benefits -- whether it's more vacation time, pay or insurance coverage - - companies can increase their attractiveness as a place to work without adding to overall expenses."
There are more than 150 Accountemps offices in the United States, Canada and Europe.
