TIE/COMMUNICATIONS AUGMENTS ITS FAMILY OF ONYX SYSTEMS WITH TWO NEW PRODUCTS

SEYMOUR, Conn., Jan. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- TIE/communications, Inc., a major North American supplier of business communication systems, services and software, has introduced the T1 Card Interface and the TVM202 Mini Voice Mail System, as enhancements to its ONYX family of telephone systems. In making the announcement, George N. Benjamin, TIE's president, said, "The T1 Card and TVM202 can optimize the cost effectiveness and productivity of ONYX, our full line of digital communications systems."
The T1 Card is a facilities interface consisting of 24 channels that are fully digital and able to carry both voice and data through a single interface. T1 allows the ONYX system to maximize its full trunking capability of 72 lines in a single cabinet configuration. While the T1 Card was designed for the ONYX IV, all ONYX systems can be upgraded to utilize the T1 Card.
The T1 Card has the capacity to replace up to six trunk cards, which reduces equipment costs to the customer. It can save end users on monthly line charges based on the number and types of central office lines. End users can bypass costly local loops and connect directly to a specific long distance carrier that further reduces the overall cost of the system.
Another T1 Card feature is its fractional capability that allows end users to configure a communications system that fits their current environment without sacrificing flexibility and growth. Other performance benefits of the T1 include eliminating the need and cost of an external channel bank; increasing product line competitiveness; and meeting RFP specifications that require a direct digital interface. Also, T1's platform structure operates in the standard ONYX cabinet, avoiding the need for additional system space.
 TVM202 Mini Voice Mail System
The TVM202 Mini Voice Mail System is a three port, four hour storage system that includes 200 mailboxes and four answer schedules. The system can be programmed through an ASCII terminal. Although the small PC-based system is designed for full integration on the ONYX VS system only, it is loaded with a full compliment of automated attendant and voice mail features. The TVM202's automated attendant capability includes dial by name, single digit dialing, call routing/blocking, trunk specific greetings and remote answer schedule override. Call screening, park and page, record conversation key, busy camp on, personalized greetings, on/off premise message notification and distribution mailbox are other features of the TVM202. Remote access is possible with the addition of an external modem.
