 TIE/COMMUNICATIONS PURCHASES LOS ANGELES CUSTOMER BASE
 AS PART OF CONTINUING NATIONAL EXPANSION DRIVE
 SEYMOUR, Conn., March 30 /PRNewswire/ -- TIE/communications, Inc. (AMEX: TIE) announced today that it has acquired the telephone system customer base of Westside Communications, a Los Angeles telecommunications company with extensive operations in Orange County. The acquired customers, almost all of them owners of TIE equipment, will be merged into the sales, service and installation operations of TIE Systems, Inc. Southern California, based in Irvine.
 Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
 The purchase is part of an aggressive customer-expansion program launched by TIE last fall. Since then TIE has purchased various customer bases and related assets in 11 states.
 "TIE continues to look for additional acquisitions that will expand our customer base," said Brian J. Kelley, executive vice president of TIE. "We continue to evaluate other mergers or partnerships. We are committed to expanding our Southern California business through acquisitions and new business development."
 TIE currently serves about 102,000 small and medium-sized business customers in North America with sales and service of business communications systems and related equipment and services. The company operates 56 offices of TIE Systems, Inc. in the United States and 12 offices of CTG Inc. in Canada. TIE has an installed base of 11 million telephones, making it one of the largest business communications organizations in North America.
 TIE is a member of The Marmon Group of companies, an international association of more than 60 autonomous manufacturing and service companies with sales of nearly $4 billion.
