TIE/COMMUNICATIONS INTRODUCES CALLER ID SYSTEM

SEYMOUR, Conn., April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- TIE/communications, Inc. (AMEX: TIE), a major North American supplier of business communications systems, services and software, has begun field trials on a Caller-ID system. TIE's innovative Caller-ID package works with a company's current telecommunications system to identify calling numbers from incoming central office lines with efficiency; transfer caller data to computer workstations; and update an existing database or create a new customer file.
"TIE is now a single source for Caller-ID technology for businesses that want to track incoming calls, create customer databases, and provide caller verification," said George N. Benjamin III, TIE's president and CEO. "Our Caller-ID system fulfills our clients' information management needs while enhancing their efficiency and productivity."
"Our new Caller-ID system is more than an add-on Caller-ID product from a local service provider," added Robert Kalina, TIE's vice president of engineering and operations. "The components that make up the system include a Multi-Line Adapter, Six Line Caller-ID Display and Caller-ID Plus software that works in conjunction with an IBM PC or compatible computer. TIE's Caller-ID system gives the user the ability to create a database of calls that are referenced to a calling number. Before an incoming call rings twice, a user can bring up a complete file on the caller."
TIE/communications serves small and medium-sized business customers and operates 68 TIE Systems offices in the United States and Canada. TIE has an installed base of 11 million telephones, making it one of the largest communications organizations in North America.
TIE is a member of The Marmon Group of companies, an international association of more than 60 autonomous manufacturing and service companies with annual sales of nearly $4 billion.
