THRIFT DEPOSITOR PROTECTION OVERSIGHT BOARD TO HOLD OPEN MEETING
The Thrift Depositor Protection Oversight Board, formerly the Oversight Board for the Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC), will hold an open meeting from 3 to 4 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 12, at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, sixth floor, 550 17th Street N.W., Washington.
The meeting is the group's first since its redesignation and restructuring under the Resolution Trust Corporation Thrift Depositor Protection Reform Act of 1991.
The agenda for the meeting includes a discussion of that restructuring and the resulting responsibilities of both the board and the RTC. Albert V. Casey, chief executive officer of the RTC and member of the board, also will report on current RTC management, operations and principal activities.
In addition, Philip Searle, chairman of the National Advisory Board and retired chairman of Sunbanks, Inc., will present recommendations approved by the National Advisory Board at its Dec. 16, 1991, meeting. The National Advisory Board provides advice to the Thrift Depositor Protection Oversight Board on the policies and programs for the disposition of the RTC's real estate assets.
Under the 1991 act, the Thrift Depositor Protection Oversight Board is empowered to review overall strategies, policies and goals of the RTC and may require modifications of them. Board members are: Chairman Nicholas F. Brady, secretary of the treasury; Alan Greenspan, chairman of the Federal Reserve Board; Albert V. Casey, chief executive officer of the RTC; William Taylor, chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation; Timothy Ryan, director of the Office of Thrift Supervision; Philip C. Jackson Jr., former member of the Federal Reserve Board and currently adjunct professor at Birmingham Southern College; and Robert C. Larson, vice chairman of the Taubman Company and chairman of the Taubman Realty Group.
