BEHIND SCENES OF DISNEYLAND PARADE
ANAHEIM, Calif., June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time ever, the curtain of "magic" surrounding the production of a new parade at Disneyland has parted and television viewers will be able to go behind the scenes.
To celebrate Goofy's 60th anniversay, "The World According to Goofy" parade recently debuted at Disneyland in Anaheim. Disneyland Publicity took a camera backstage in the months preceding the step- off to record the nuts and bolts of how a Disney parade comes together.
"The Goofy Parade: Making the Magic" is a three-part news series offering a privileged view of "Getting Goofy."
Part One features the vice president of Entertainment at Disneyland, Bob McTyre, explaining where the parade concept came from and how it developed. The segment follows the progress of the lavish parade units, from initial sketches through scale models through construction of the actual floats.
In Part Two, the Goofy parade costume designer explains how research, whimsy and teamwork make the extravagant costumes take on a life of their own. Viewers are taken inside the sewing rooms to watch the intricately designed costumes take shape.
Part Three focuses on the people and the music so vital to a successful production. The segment follows parade dancers from auditions through their performances in the actual parade. Viewers also learn that quite a lot goes into creating the original score for each parade and "The World According to Goofy" offers a unique spin on some familiar classical pieces.
