THREE-FIVE SYSTEMS INC. APPOINTS CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
PHOENIX, Aug. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Kenneth Julien has been appointed executive vice president and chief operating officer of Three-Five Systems Inc. (AMEX: TFS.EC)(SM), according to David R. Buchanan, chairman, president and chief executive officer.
Julien has served as vice president, chief financial officer and secretary of Three-Five since May of 1988 and has remained a director since July 1987. As was reported last month, Thomas Schoenbeck succeeds Julien as chief financial officer.
Julien's career in the electronics industry has included management positions with CerProbe Corp. and Talos Systems. He is a certified public accountant and was an auditor with Arthur Andersen & Co. early in his career. Julien received his master of business administration degree at Arizona State University and earned a bachelor of science degree at the University of New York at Albany. He will oversee the company's worldwide manufacturing, engineering and sales/marketing functions in his new role.
"This new chief operating officer was created because of the 21 percent growth rate that the company has experienced over the past five years. Ken Julien will focus his efforts on establishing a world-class manufacturing operation, so critical in supporting this high-growth rate," explained Buchanan.
Three-Five Systems Inc. is a leading display supplier to cellular telephone and communications equipment manufacturers. The company designs, manufactures and markets LED and LCD display systems and keypads as well as discrete optoelectronic components internationally. Worldwide headquarters are maintained in Phoenix, with European headquarters located in Swindon, England. Manufacturing facilities include Manila, the Philippines, and the newly opened technology center in Phoenix. The technology center houses an LCD laboratory, clean room and assembly area for the production of prototypes and low-quantity manufacturing.
