THREE NAMED MARKETING DIRECTORS AT ANHEUSER-BUSCH, INC. ST. LOUIS, Oct. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Anheuser-Busch, Inc. (NYSE: BUD) has appointed three marketing executives to director-level posts in a move reflecting the company's growth and industry-leading market share. -- Michael J. Owens has been named director, Budweiser Brand Marketing. He will direct advertising and marketing activities for Budweiser, the world's largest selling beer. -- Bob Lachky has been appointed to the newly created post of director, Bud Light Brand Marketing. He will direct Bud Light marketing and advertising. -- William E. Braun has been named director, Busch Marketing and will have responsibility for marketing and advertising activities for Busch, Busch Light, Natural Light, Natural Pilsner, O'Doul's and King Cobra Premium Malt Liquor. "These moves strengthen our marketing structure to reflect the importance of our flagship Budweiser brand, the continuing growth and success of Bud Light, and the importance of the Busch family beers in our brand structure," said Patrick T. Stokes, president, Anheuser-Busch, Inc. "These deserved promotions illustrate our depth of management talent." Background: Michael J. Owens Owens, 38, most recently served as director of Busch Group Marketing, directing advertising, sales promotion, merchandising, packaging and other marketing activities for the Busch brand group. Owens previously served as director of Ethnic, Geographic and Entertainment Marketing for Anheuser-Busch, Inc. Since joining the company in 1981, he has held a variety of field sales, marketing and brand management positions including Brand Manager for Busch beer and as executive assistant to Michael J. Roarty, executive vice president, Corporate Marketing and Communications for Anheuser-Busch Companies, Inc. In his new position, Owens replaces August A. Busch IV, who was appointed vice president, Budweiser Brands Sept. 24 to oversee Budweiser, Bud Light and Bud Dry. Owens holds a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and a master's degree in sports administration from Ohio University. Background: Bob Lachky Lachky, 39, has served as senior brand manager for Bud Light since joining Anheuser-Busch in 1988, a growth period in which Bud Light became the third-largest selling beer overall in the U.S. Prior to that, Lachky was vice president and management representative for DDB Needham Worldwide, Inc., in Chicago. In that capacity, he worked for eight years on Bud Light, Michelob and Busch beer brand advertising campaigns for Anheuser-Busch, Inc. In addition to managing accounts for Anheuser-Busch, Inc., at DDB Needham, Lachky worked on the agency's McDonald's account. Previously, at Foote, Cone & Belding, Lachky worked on advertising campaigns for companies including Pizza Hut and Hiram Walker. Lachky received his bachelor's and master's degrees in communications from the University of Illinois-Champaign. Background: William E. Braun Braun, 37, has been senior brand manager, Busch Brands since 1989. Since joining Anheuser-Busch, Inc., in 1978 at the company's New Orleans wholesale operation, Braun has held a number of positions in merchandising, sales and brand management. In brand management, Braun has worked as Budweiser product manager, Michelob product manager and as senior brand manager, Imports, during the 1985 Anheuser-Busch introduction of Carlsberg, Carlsberg Light and Elephant Malt Liquor from Denmark. He replaces Owens in his new position.
