THREE FIRST AMERICAN UNITS HAVE NEW PRESIDENTS
 NASHVILLE, Tenn., Jan. 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Dennis C. Bottorff,

president and chief executive officer of First American Corporation (NASDAQ-NMS: FATN), today announced three top management appointments in the statewide banking organization -- two at First American National Bank and one at First American Trust Company.
Robert A. McCabe, Jr. has been named president of the General Bank. He is responsible for all retail banking functions, community banking activities and consumer lending in the bank's 136 offices across Tennessee.
John W. Boyle, Jr. has been named president of the Corporate Bank. His responsibilities include all commercial banking activities statewide.
Robert E. McNeilly, Jr. has been named president of the corporation's trust subsidiary.
"These new presidents share a single purpose," Bottorff said, "that purpose being to deliver the very best banking services to individual customers and to small and mid-size businesses from one end of Tennessee to the other."
McCabe began his banking career in 1976 in Knoxville, where he held a number of key positions at First American, including president and chief operating officer of the bank's Knoxville operations. He moved to Nashville in March 1991 to serve as president of the Corporate/Commercial Banking Group and to oversee national and international banking and commercial real estate.
Boyle, who has been in banking since 1962, joins First American's management team from C&S/Sovran, Atlanta. There he was group executive vice president. Boyle was first with a Virginia bank that later, through a merger, formed Sovran Bank. At Sovran, he served in such top positions as head of U.S. Banking and then executive vice president in charge of National/Corporate Banking.
McNeilly, as president of First American Trust Company, also has responsibility for Lee, Robinson & Steine Inc., the investment counseling subsidiary of the trust company. McNeilly, who currently serves as president of the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, came to First American initially in 1984 as a board member. In 1986, he was named chairman of First American's Nashville bank.
"With this reorganization along our major lines of business, we now have the management team in place to move First American forward," James F. Smith, Jr., chairman, stated. "Rob McCabe and Bob McNeilly will continue to make significant contributions in their new roles; and the addition of John Boyle, along with Denny Bottorff and Dale Polley late last year, brings a new perspective that will make First American more competitive for the future."
In addition to First American National Bank and First American Trust Company, Nashville-based First American Corporation is the parent of First American Community Development Corporation. First American Corporation's stock, traded in the over-the-counter securities market, is quoted on the NASDAQ National Market list under the symbol FATN.
