THOUGHT for the DAY.

WHEN Moses received the 10 Commandments, he spent a great deal of time with God and, as a result, he received the eternal code of conduct to be followed by every generation.

Even in those days people, as in today's society, followed false gods instead of the One True God.

People then, as now, needed to be reminded that God is not only their Creator but also their Father and the One to whom they owe unswerving and eternal allegiance. So God's first Commandment begins with the words, "I am the Lord your God, you shall have no other gods but me."

All too often, people ignore God and try to live their lives without Him. Yet they continue to enjoy His daily gifts of life and good health, without any acknowledgement or gratitude.

It is so easy to put false, selfconstructed, gods in the place of the One, True God. For all too many, those false gods are money, possessions, drink, drugs, power and position in society.

For others, the false gods will be the stars of TV, pop music, the cinema and the football field! By all means, enjoy some - if not all - of them, but don't make them your God. Ignore Him at your peril!
