THOMSON RELEASES NEW DIRECTORY TO ASSIST BANKS IN SAME-DAY SETTLEMENT COMPLIANCE

SKOKIE, Ill., Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Thomson Financial Publishing Inc. announces publication of the "Thomson Same-Day Settlement Presentment Point Directory." The brand-new directory provides essential data to assist financial institutions in complying with the Same-Day Settlement Amendment to Regulation CC that became law on Jan. 3, 1994.
"The Federal Reserve Banks estimate that implementation of this new amendment will reduce their annual processing levels by 3.6 billion items, saving banks almost $56 million per year in fees," said T. Emmett Dages, vice president of the company's funds transfer group. "The Directory will help banks share in these enormous savings by identifying presentment point and same-day settlement contact information for every major financial institution."
Organized numerically by routing number and geographically by state, city, and institution name, the directory will enable financial institutions to quickly identify contact information and evaluate the cost-effectiveness of delivery to additional cities by identifying all routing numbers presentable in that city.
In addition, said Dages, the directory identifies contact names and phone numbers for adjustments and bank-designated special instructions. The directory also includes a reprint of the amendment in its entirety and articles on implementation issues written by leading industry trade groups and consultants.
The "Thomson Same-Day Settlement Presentment Point Directory" is the most recent addition to Thomson Financial Publishing's print and electronic product line. Thomson, the official routing number registrar for the American Bankers Association since 1911, publishes the "American Financial Directory," "ABA Key to Routing Numbers," "Thomson Bank Directory," "Thomson Regulation CC Directory," and other financial institution information products.
Scheduled for publication in late-January, the directory costs $275 for this edition, plus shipping, handling, and tax. For subscription or volume purchase information, call the Thomson Client Services Center at 800-321-3373.
