THOMAS J. OVERCAMP ELECTED TO AIR & WASTE MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATION BOARD
 KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Thomas J. Overcamp, professor of environmental systems engineering at Clemson University, Clemson, S.C., has been elected to the board of directors of the Air & Waste Management Association.
 Dr. Overcamp's three-year term begins during the Monday, June 22, business breakfast at the association's 85th Annual Meeting and Exhibition at the Kansas City Convention Center. He was elected by ballot vote of the association's membership.
 Since 1975, Dr. Overcamp has served on the faculty of Clemson University. He has taught nine different air pollution control and waste management courses, six of which he developed. In addition, he has served as principal investigator and co-principal investigator on a variety of sponsored research projects for Georgetown Steel Corp., E.I. du Pont de Nemours, Inc. and the U.S. Army Construction Engineering Laboratory. During his tenure at Clemson, Overcamp has also served on several departmental, college and university commissions and committees. As part of his university and public service activities, he has been active in continuing engineering education.
 Dr. Overcamp is a member of the association's Critical Review Committee and immediate past president of the Education Council. He has served as chairman of the council's Higher Education Division, the Scholarship Awards Committee and the J. Deane Sensenbaugh Award Committee. He has also served on the association's Planning Committee and numerous educational coordinating committees. Because of his writing and research and his ability to explain complex issues in a simple manner, Dr. Overcamp is a sought-after speaker at conferences and technical meetings in the Southeast.
 Overcamp earned his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
 The Air & Waste Management Association is a non-profit, technical and educational organization with 13,000 members in more than 50 countries. Founded in 1907, the association provides a neutral forum where all sides of an environmental issue receive equal consideration.
