Speaker - 7 p.m. Author George Gessert reads from his new book, "Darwin's Sublime," which addresses the intersection of Darwin and the arts. The book was handmade by UO art students. Room 115, Lawrence Hall. Free. 344-4137.

Speaker - 7 p.m. Author and UO professor Carol Ann Bassett will discuss her new book, "Gal[sz]pagos at the Crossroads: Pirates, Biologists, Tourists and Creationists Battle for Darwin's Cradle of Evolution." Browsing Room, Knight Library. Free. 346-4331.

Speaker - 7 p.m. Wendy Janssen, superintendent of Minidoka National Historic Site and Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument in Idaho, will discuss "Remembering the Japanese American Interments: the Future of Minidoka National Historic Site." Room 177, Lawrence Hall. Free. 346-0048.

Speaker - 7 p.m. In "Retrospectives on Tiananmen: Two Decades Later," scholars offer their perspectives on the Tiananmen incident on its 20th anniversary. Browsing Room, Knight Library. Free. 346-1521.

Free day - All day. Free admission to the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art as part of the Free First Friday program. Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. Free. 346-3027.

Speaker - 3 p.m. Vietnamese-American photographer Binh Danh will discuss his current exhibit, "In the Eclipse of Angkor: Tuol Sleng, Choeung Ek and Khmer Temples." Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art. Free. 346-3027.
