THERMO FIBERTEK RECEIVES ORDERS FROM ROMANIA AND COLOMBIA VALUED AT APPROXIMATELY $6.3 MILLION

 WALTHAM, Mass., Jan. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Thermo Fibertek Inc. (AMEX: TFT) announced today that its Lamort subsidiary has received a $5.3 million order to supply a white-paper recycling system to SC Letea SA, the largest paper company in Romania. The system, which incorporates Lamort's proprietary flotation de-inking technology, will be used to produce newsprint from printed waste consisting of 50 percent newsprint and 50 percent magazine paper. Delivery is scheduled for the end of 1994.
 Lamort has also received an order, valued at approximately $1 million, to supply a de-inking system for the production of tissue to Productos Familia of Medellin, Colombia. This is the second Lamort de-inking system ordered by Familia. The equipment is to be delivered in mid-1994.
 "The Romanian order represents one of the largest funded paper- recycling projects to come out of Eastern Europe since the fall of the Iron Curtain," said William A. Rainville, president and chief executive officer of Thermo Fibertek. "We continue to pursue opportunities in Eastern Europe, which we believe will develop into a valuable market for our products. The fact that we have received orders from both Romania and Colombia demonstrates the breadth of our international presence."
 Thermo Fibertek develops, markets, and manufactures a range of equipment and accessory products for the domestic and international paper and paper-recycling industries. The company's products include de- inking systems, stock-preparation equipment, and water-handling systems for paper recycling.
