THERMEDICS INC. ANNOUNCES YEAR-END RESULTS

WOBURN, Mass., March 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Thermedics Inc. (AMEX: TMD) today reported revenues of $45,778,000 for the year ended Jan. 2, 1993, compared with $32,295,000 in 1991. Net income was $2,467,000 in 1992, compared with $1,613,000 in 1991.
According to Thermedics president John W. Wood Jr., "During the fourth quarter of 1992, we saw a substantial increase in revenues, due to sales of our new detection instruments and revenues from KeyTek Instrument Corp., which we acquired in June 1992." In 1992, the company developed a high-speed detection instrument for industrial process- control applications. These instruments, which have already been installed in several countries around the world, are based on the same technology as the company's EGIS (explosives detector).
Thermedics develops, manufactures, and markets biomaterials, biomedical products, analytical instruments, and explosives- and drug- detection devices, and provides analytical laboratory services. Thermedics is a public subsidiary of Thermo Electron Corporation.
