Byline: THE TOP TV TOPICS with paddy shennan, the man with the remote
THE corporate, clean-cut, far-from-cutting edge Brit Awards (ITV, Wednesday) - a happy hunting ground for the mediocre and middle-of-theroad - was enlivened this year by a little mid-1990s nostalgia.
Damon (Gorillaz) Albarn may have got a bit of stick for his rambling speech - and for giving the impression he was a little tired and emotional (though, if you can't be tired and emotional at a big bash like the Brits, then it's a poor do) - but at least he created a bit of a talking point.
On this occasion, however, the former Blur man couldn't compete with the former Oasis man - Liam Gallagher and his band performed a lovely version of Live Forever in honour of the Manchester Arena bombing victims.
It was the night's highlight.
