THE X FACTOR; TV show favourite Tabby has watched Braveheart an incredible 500 times.
IRISH braveheart Tabby Callaghan is now the hot favourite to win reality TV show X Factor.
The 23-year-old rocker won the hearts of the nation after he belted out Slade's My Oh My on Saturday's live show.
And the cheeky singer says he considers himself an honorary Scot - his hero is William Wallace and he has watched Braveheart more than 500 times.
Tabby's Scots girlfriend, Anna Leask, from Shetland, said last night: 'Tabby loves everything about Scotland. He loves Scots girls and he loves the accent.
'So many of his family are from Scotland and he has spent a lot of time there. And he is obsessed with Braveheart.'
Tabby, whose real name is Trevor, is competing with six other acts for a pounds 1million record contract with Simon Cowell's label BMG.
The winner will be named in a live final on December 11.
Bookies last night slashed Tabby's odds from 5-1 to 2-1 after his live performance.
Anna,28,said last night:'We have launched campaigns all over Scotland to back Tabby.
'He has fanbases in Dumfries, Skye, Glasgow, Renfrewshire and Shetland - where his pals live.'
Tabby's cousin Annette Walker, of Barrhead, said: 'My mother, Mary, moved over to Scotland when she was young and had 10 daughters, so there are a lot of us Scots.'
His aunt Anne Prior, 83, of Whiteinch, Glasgow, said last night: 'We are all very proud.'
Meanwhile, American students can now study the caustic put-downs of Cowell after a US university started a Pop Idol course.
Undergraduates at the University of North Carolina will devise their own system of rating contestants taking part in the American version of the hit reality show.
