LIHUE, Hawaii, Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- As stated earlier, (media advisory dated Sept. 21, 1992) due to Hurricane Iniki, The Westin Kauai has closed for the remainder of 1992 and is expected to remain closed until early 1993, the hotel said today. - One of The Westin Kauai's signature features, the 26,000-square- foot swimming pool has been drained and is currently undergoing detailed cleaning.
 - One hundred guest rooms are being occupied by Red Cross, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Westin employees in need of temporary housing.
 - The animals at the Kauai Lagoons zoological gardens are doing well and wildlife keepers continue to oversee their well being.
