THE Under-14s made the short journey to Manchester as they took on Trafford in a bid to book their place in this year's end of season play-offs.

Full of confidence going into the game, Liverpool settled into their rhythm quickly as they established a slender lead. They took that slender lead into the second half with Trafford two points adrift.

In the second half, Trafford threw everything they had at their Merseyside rivals but the key for Liverpool was not to panic. They didn't.

The game was won in the third quarter as gaps in the Trafford defence were penetrated as Liverpool outscored their opponents - 10 points without reply - to take a commanding lead.

Trafford tried in vain to battle back but victory belonged to Liverpool.

It finished Trafford 63 Liverpool 80.
