THE TIMKEN COMPANY RECEIVES FORD TOTAL QUALITY EXCELLENCE (TQE) AWARD

 CANTON, Ohio, Nov. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- The Timken Company's (NYSE: TKR) Bearing Business has earned the Ford Motor Company's Total Quality Excellence (TQE) Award -- Ford's highest recognition for supplier excellence. The award was presented by Alexander J. Trotman, Ford chairman, president and chief executive officer, to W. R. Timken, Jr., chairman - board of directors, The Timken Company, in ceremonies held last evening at Ford World Headquarters in Dearborn, Mich.
 Ford presents the TQE Award to suppliers that demonstrate excellence and continuous improvement in all facets of operation. Exhibiting the commitment necessary to achieve this level of superiority, The Timken Company becomes one of only 20 Ford suppliers that have achieved the coveted designation since its inception in 1987. Currently Ford has approximately 1,400 North American suppliers.

 Timken emphasized that qualifying for the TQE Award is a data-driven process based on quantitative results, a demonstrated commitment to improving continuously in every area of business and customer satisfaction.  Five Timken Company locations supply Ford with tapered roller bearings: Bucyrus, Ohio; Canton, Ohio; Gaffney, S.C.; Lincolnton, N.C.; and St. Thomas, Ontario.
 The TQE Award is considered the benchmark for Ford preferred supplier performance. Suppliers who demonstrate the ability to meet these performance standards receive preferred consideration in ongoing sourcing decisions.
